Responsible AI and Student Data Charter
Version 0.2 · Last updated: August 22, 2026
Why this charter exists
Hyrenora helps students understand their career readiness, build evidence of their skills, find relevant opportunities, and prepare for applications and interviews. We know that career data is personal, and that AI-generated guidance can affect important decisions.
This charter explains the commitments we make to students, universities, educators, and employers. It is written in plain language. It complements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service; it does not replace them.
Our commitments at a glance
- Students remain in control of their career profile.
- We use AI to support decisions, not to make high-stakes decisions for people.
- We explain what our scores and recommendations mean—and what they do not mean.
- We collect and retain only the data needed to provide and improve the service.
- We never sell personal data or use student resumes to train public AI models.
- Students choose whether their profile is shared with employers or made public.
- We build safeguards against unfair, misleading, or harmful outcomes.
- We are accountable, and we will keep improving.
1. Students are in control
Students own the information they add to Hyrenora, including their resume, career history, skills, portfolio links, job applications, and personal career goals.
- Students can review and update their profile and resume information.
- Students control whether to create or share a public recruiter-facing profile.
- A student profile is not visible to employers merely because the student belongs to a college using Hyrenora.
- Students can ask for access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of their information, subject to legal and operational requirements explained in our Privacy Policy.
- Colleges see individual student information — readiness scores, competency ratings, roster details — as part of normal placement operations at the college the student is enrolled with; that visibility is expected and necessary for a TPO to do their job. What requires the student's own explicit consent is anything that goes further: a shareable public profile an employer outside the institution can view. That link is off by default, and the student can turn it on or off at any time from their account.
2. AI assists; people decide
Hyrenora uses AI to help students draft content, identify skill gaps, prepare for interviews, understand job descriptions, and receive career guidance.
AI outputs are guidance, not guarantees. Hyrenora does not:
- make hiring, admission, scholarship, disciplinary, or placement decisions;
- decide whether a student is employable or worthy of an opportunity;
- guarantee an interview, job offer, salary outcome, or placement result; or
- submit inaccurate information to employers on a student's behalf.
Students should review, edit, and approve any resume, cover letter, application answer, or other material before it is used. Institutions and employers remain responsible for their own decisions.
3. Clear, bounded scores and recommendations
Our ATS, job-match, skills, interview, and readiness scores are designed to help users understand a situation and decide what to improve next.
- A score is an estimate based on the information available to Hyrenora; it is not an official score from an employer, applicant-tracking-system vendor, university, or government body.
- A job-match score indicates alignment between a profile and a role; it is not a prediction that a candidate will be selected.
- A verified-skill level reflects the evidence, assessment, or endorsement attached to that skill. It is not an accredited qualification or a guarantee of competence.
- Where possible, we will show the factors behind a recommendation, score, flag, or missing-skill suggestion.
- We will make clear when a feature uses generative AI and encourage users to challenge, correct, or disregard unsuitable output.
4. Data minimisation and purpose limitation
We collect information that is needed to provide career-intelligence features, operate the service securely, improve product quality, and meet legal obligations.
We will not collect personal information just because it may be useful in the future. We will explain why we collect information and will not use it for a new, incompatible purpose without an appropriate notice or permission.
We may process information such as:
- account and contact information;
- resume, education, skills, career preferences, and portfolio evidence;
- job descriptions, job-search activity, applications, and interview-practice responses;
- institutional affiliation where a student joins through a university or college; and
- service, security, and product-usage information needed to run and protect Hyrenora.
5. No sale of data; no training on student content
Hyrenora will not sell or rent personal data.
We will not use a student's resume, application content, interview answers, or other personal career data to train public or third-party AI models. When we use specialist technology providers to deliver a feature, we will use contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the service, and disclose the relevant categories of providers in our Privacy Policy.
6. Privacy and security by design
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data from unauthorised access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. These measures evolve as Hyrenora grows and include access controls, encryption where appropriate, secure development practices, and vendor review.
We limit access to student data to people and systems that need it to operate, support, secure, or improve the service. Access is not granted because it is convenient.
If a data-security incident creates a material risk to people, we will investigate, contain it, and communicate in line with our legal obligations and incident-response process.
7. Fairness, safety, and inclusion
Career opportunity should not be limited by irrelevant personal characteristics. Hyrenora aims to design and test its features so that they do not intentionally discriminate on the basis of protected or irrelevant characteristics.
We will:
- review high-impact scoring and recommendation features for misleading or unfair patterns;
- avoid using sensitive characteristics as inputs to employability recommendations unless there is a clear, lawful, user-beneficial reason to do so;
- provide a route for users to report incorrect, harmful, or inappropriate content; and
- improve our systems when we identify material quality, safety, or fairness issues.
8. Responsible verification
Hyrenora's Skills Passport is intended to make evidence visible—not to inflate claims.
- Evidence-backed, assessed, and faculty-endorsed skills are labelled according to the type of evidence supporting them.
- Faculty endorsements represent the educator or institution's view; they are not a warranty by Hyrenora.
- We may remove or amend a verification label where evidence appears misleading, misappropriated, fraudulent, or no longer valid.
- Students can challenge or correct a verification outcome through our support process.
9. Responsible use by institutions and employers
We expect colleges, employers, and other organisational users to use Hyrenora responsibly.
They must not use a Hyrenora score, profile, or verification label as the sole basis for a high-stakes decision about a student. They should consider the broader context, allow appropriate human review, and respect applicable privacy and employment laws.
10. Accountability and contact
Responsible AI and data protection are continuing commitments, not a one-time checklist. We will review this charter as our product, partnerships, and legal obligations evolve.
Questions, concerns, correction requests, or reports of harmful AI output can be sent to [email protected] or [email protected].
